NSC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Newry Speakers Club has an executive committee of seven members. It consists of a President, treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President of Education, Vice-President of Public Relations, Vice-President of Membership and a Sergeant-at-Arms.
PRESIDENT (JENNIFER MCMAHON)
The club president opens and presides over every club, business, and executive committee meeting. This means the president takes charge of the proceedings and keeps the agenda moving forward. The president is expected to manage procedural matters in the conduct of the meeting and to apply parliamentary procedure.
TREASURER (OLIVER QUINN)
The Club's treasurer is their accountant. They manage the club’s bank account, writing checks as approved by the executive committee and depositing dues and other club revenues.
SECRETARY (MARY SANDS)
The club secretary maintains all club records, manage club files, handle club correspondence and take the minutes at each club and executive committee meeting. The Secretary is in charge of updating and distributing a roster of the current paid membership and keeping the club officer list current for Toastmasters International.
VICE-PRESIDENT OF EDUCATION (CHRIS MCCABE)
The vice president of education schedules members’ speeches and projects and serve as a resource for questions about education awards, speech contests, and the mentor program. They are an important source of Toastmasters knowledge for club members.
VICE-PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS (SEAMUS LAVERTY)
The vice president of public relations promotes the club to the local community and notifies the media about the club’s existence and the benefits it provides. The VP of public relations , updates web content and safeguards the Toastmasters brand identity.
VICE-PRESIDENT OF MEMBERSHIP (CARMEL MOHAN)
The vice-president of membership promote the club and manages the process of bringing in guests and transforming them into members. By initiating contact with guests, making them feel welcome and providing them with the information they need to join, the VP of membership helps to maintain a constant influx of new people into Newry Speakers Club.
SERGEANT-AT-ARMS (PHILLIP ROBB)
The Sergeant-at-arms keeps track of the club’s physical property, such as the banner, lectern, timing device and other meeting materials. They arrive early to prepare the meeting place for members and stay late to stow all of the club’s equipment. They are also in charge of the meeting place itself, obtaining a new space when necessary and maintaining contact with the people who allow us to use the space for our club meetings.

Newry Speakers Club as part of Toastmasters International has various objectives in which to build our club and promote the Toastmasters International Brand. The Club success plan below states these various objectives in detail. One of the awards the Club can gain from Toastmasters International for meeting its objectives is Select Distinguished Club status. It has won such distinction on 3 separate occasions, in 2011/12, 2014/15 & 2015/16.
